Apartment heights on the rise 10 December 2018
The height restrictions of new apartment buildings have been lifted according to the 'Urban Development and Building Heights' guidelines issued by the Department of Housing, Planning and Local Government last week.
A height review of each new development will be made on a case by case basis instead of the established height restrictions of the past. This will mean many Irish towns and cities could see sky scrapers becoming part of their architectural vernacular.
"We need to get more people living in the core of our towns and city centres and that is what the changes we have made are about', says Minister for Housing Eoghan Murphy.
