Sillogue Water Tower Ballymun, Dublin 9 Client: Dublin City Council Services: Architecture

A simple sculptured form which flows from the landscape.

The facility consists of two major build elements, the water tower and the reservoir set in a rural landscape adjacent to the M50 motorway. Although limited in height by its proximity to Dublin Airport it is considered to be a landmark structure.

The design approach is based on a simple sculptured form which flows from the landscape and is recognisable as a vessel containing water.

A unique landmark building located in north county Dublin.

The reservoir, by contrast, is a simple ground level structure which, for practical and functional reasons, is formed as a simple flat box set low in the landscape. The approach is to slope the adjoining ground up to blend with the surrounding landscape. Although limited in height by its proximity to Dublin Airport, the Silogue Tower is considered to be a unique Dublin landmark structure.
