Rapid design build project delivered over 16 week programme

University Hospital Limerick

In response to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, the HSE commissioned a rapid-build dedicated COVID-19 patient ward at University Hospital Limerick. MCA were appointed technical advisors to this extremely important and timely design build project.

This new extension comprises 14 single en-suite bedrooms accommodated over two floors. Modular construction was employed to facilitate this very challenging programme. Remarkably, the building’s superstructure was delivered to site over a single weekend.

The construction site operated 7-day weeks and substantial completion was achieved in July 2020; just 16 weeks after the initial design sketch was drafted.
