An homage to an equestrian heritage and its rural surroundings.

Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny

Mount Juliet was a grand old manor in need of a major refurbishment. MCA paid homage to it’s equestrian history and it’s surroundings whilst renovating the interior. We strove to maintain the grandeur of the ‘old house’ but brought the tapestry of the interior into the 21st Century.

Bar locations were moved to improve increased visitor numbers, the reception was also relocated to improve personal service and a private dining room was introduced for a more intimate setting with smaller groups.

Decorative plaster work was stripped back and given considerable attention as to how it would have been detailed when the house was originally built and master heritage painters were employed to do the work.

Carefully selected period pieces used to enhance the grandeur of the 'old house'

A substantial amount of the new furniture were period pieces bought at auction and refurbished, helping preserve the integrity of each piece, tying in with the overall conservation approach.

“MCA did an excellent job liaising with Kilkenny Council to achieve planning permission for the refurb of the Mount Juliet Manor. We found MCA to be very hardworking, creative, flexible and innovating throughout the whole process.”
